The Jar Jar Binks theory shocking Star Wars fans

A Star Wars super fan has blown minds all over the world with an elaborate, well-reasoned argument that the loveable Jar Jar Binks is – or was intended to be – an evil mastermind.

In a Reddit post entitled ‘[Theory] Jar Jar Binks was a trained Force user, knowing Sith collaborator, and will play a central role in The Force Awakens‘, user Lumpawarroo contends that Jar Jar is more than the “bumbling idiot” he appears to be.

First introduced to audiences in the 1999 film Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace, Jar Jar Binks was portrayed as a goofy Gungan outcast.

However, Lumpawarroo delivers an airtight case suggesting Jar Jar Binks is actually a calculated, highly skilled force user in collaboration with the evil Emperor Palpatine.

The original post, shared to the Reddit Star Wars thread, begins: “Here I will seek to establish that Jar Jar Binks, far from being simply the bumbling idiot he portrays himself as, is, in fact, a highly skilled force user in terms of martial ability and mind control.

“Furthermore, I assert that he was not, as many people assume, just an unwitting political tool manipulated by Palpatine – rather, he and Palpatine were likely in collaboration from the very beginning, and it’s entirely possible that Palpatine was a subordinate underling to Binks throughout both trilogies.

“And finally, given the above, I will conclude with an argument as to why I believe it is not only possible, but plausible that Jar Jar will make a profound impact on the upcoming movies, and what his role may be.”

Lumpawarroo then uses the following arguments about Jar Jar Binks as evidence to back up this far-fetched theory:

1. Jar Jar’s impressive stunt work and combat skills suggest he is somehow involved with the force.

2. Jar Jar’s oafish behaviour is just a facade, allowing him to fool his enemies before taking them out.

3. Jar Jar’s seemingly inexplicable inclusion in many different circumstances (despite his apparent uselessness) could indicate he is a master of Jedi mind control – especially his tell-tale gesturing.

4. The fact Emperor Palpatine keeps Jar Jar around (in Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith) even after he’s elected emperor and no longer needs Jar Jar’s help, suggests Jar Jar is far more important than he seems.

5. George Lucas had different plans for Jar Jar but when fan reactions to the character were so vitriolic he was forced to change tack.

The argument concludes with a summary: “Jar Jar Binks has undoubtedly become the face of everything that is “wrong” with the prequels – he was too silly, too unbelievable, seemingly pointless.

“If you are able to somehow change the nature of Jar Jar from embarrassing idiot to jaw-dropping villain, suddenly the entire prequel trilogy must be seen in a new light, because it becomes the setup for the most astounding reveal in film history: Jar Jar Binks is Supreme Leader Snoke!”

Comments on the post have been overwhelmingly positive, with many congratulating the author for making sense of the most confusing part of the most recent films.
