Musician and comedian Reggie Watts has lent his voice to an epic 21-hour song which name drops 600 Australian towns.

In the advertisement for Virgin Mobile, Watts and his loop machine are surrounded by various Australiana paraphanaelia including a small banksia and a toy platypus.

Rocking a huge afro and a green-screen jumper with Aussie scenes projected onto it, Watts cuts quite the figure as he chews through Wagga Wagga, Devonport, Alice Springs and 597 more.

“The response has been all great,” he told the Herald Sun.

“You never know when you say something as precious as a town name, whether they are beloved or beaten up on, it is personal, so it is good that people have not lashed out.”

It’s a huge feat to sing and loop for 21 hours, although one mistake must be pointed out – St Kilda is a suburb in Melbourne, not a town.

Virgin is using the ad to plug music streamer Guvera, offering users an extra 1GB of data – about 21 hours worth of streaming.

Reggie Watts is band leader for The Late Show With James Corden. He has also appeared on the TV show Comedy Bang Bang and in the recent blockbuster film Pitch Perfect.

He also performed a song with band LCD Soundsystem on their farewell documentary Shut Up and Play the Hits.
