Ryan Adams may not have the same blonde, windswept locks, but it seems he does have a similar musical taste to pop star Taylor Swift.

And he may now have the same flock of fans after releasing his alt-rock version of 1989, Swift’s highly successful 2014 album-release.

Adams released his version of the album via online music stories overnight, with fans loving the Bruce Springsteen-type approach to her hit songs.

He has reworked some of Swift’s most successful pop-songs as dreamy ballads.

The idea for the cover album came after the eccentric singer-songwriter obsessively listened to it while on tour, after separating from wife Mandy Moore.

“I was listening to that record and thinking, ‘I hear more’,” he told a music magazine.

“Not that there was anything missing. I would just think about the sentiments in the songs and the configurations.”

Far from being annoyed, Swift has quickly become a supporter of the new version of her album saying it was “surreal and dreamlike” that he had chosen to cover her record.

Especially since Adams was a major influence on her own song writing.

While some critics have panned the album, fans of Adams and Swift have come out in support on Twitter.
