‘Praise be’: John Oliver forced to close his church

Late night satire king John Oliver has announced his newly-formed faux church, Our Lady of Perpetual Exemption, will be closed after it received a whole host of inappropriate donations in the mail.

Oliver made the call at the end of his latest Last Week Tonight episode, citing the delivery of thousands of dollar bills, abusive t-shirts and viles of semen as the reason behind the closure.

“We’re closing because multiple people sent us sperm through the mail,” Oliver said. “And when someone sends you jizz through the mail, it’s time to stop whatever you’re doing.

“So we are shutting this s**t down. Praise be!”

Oliver was accompanied in the announcement by his “wife”, Wanda Jo (Rachel Dratch), who was similarly thankful, yet dismayed at the goods received.

“Praise be!” said Dratch. “You took one look at what we wrote and you done made it rain!”

Oliver began his diocese almost a month ago. He said he would use it as a way to exploit faith-based fraud.

Known as the Megareverend of the church, Oliver has long been critical of the way large American churches gain followers and money.

He even wrote a letter at the time, asking for donations when he started OLPE.

All the money sent to the now disbanded church will go to Doctors Without Borders.
