Lesbians, flat-chested women and “voluptuous” ladies have all been adviseed to steer clear of a $1000-plus dress by an executive at the design house that makes it.

Patrick Couderc, the UK managing director of the French fashion house Herve Leger, has specified a very specific target market for the brand’s signature bandage dresses and it probably doesn’t include you.

“If you’re a committed lesbian and you are wearing trousers all your life, you won’t want to buy a Leger dress. Lesbians would want to be rather butch and leisurely,” Mr Couderc told the Daily Mail in an interview.

According to the British publication, he also advised women who were “voluptuous” or had “very prominent hips and a very flat chest” against wearing the dress.

“You women have a lot of problems. You will lose the plot. You will come and you will put a dress on and you’ll be in front of the mirror, like, ‘Argh, I’m so fat’,” Mr Couderc said.

“Yes, you have a 12th of an inch around your stomach, it’s not really a disaster, and what you’re not noticing is that your cleavage is about two inches too low because you are 55 and it’s time that you should not display everything like you’re 23.”

So who exactly should wear the dresses, in Mr Couderc’s opinion?

“People with an expertise,” the managing director specified.

Ah, alright then.

Thankfully, the brand’s parent company, the BCBGMAXAZRIA Group, fired the executive and issued a statement apologising for his words.

“The Herve Leger by Max Azria brand and its parent company, BCBGMAXAZRIA Group, are shocked and appalled by Patrick Couderc’s comments made in the Mail on Sunday,” a statement from the company read.

“BCBGMAXAZRIA Group is working in concert with MJH Fashion, the London-based licensee of the Herve Leger brand, to investigate and establish appropriate next steps.

“The statements made by Mr Couderc are not a reflection of Herve Leger by Max Azria or MJH Fashion ideals or sentiments. The Herve Leger by Max Azria brand celebrates sensuality, glamour and femininity without discrimination.”

Amal Clooney’s surprisingly pricey outfit

When Amal Clooney, international human rights lawyer and celebrity spouse, hits the airport – she does it with style.

The 37-year-old does not do anything by halves and even her airplane clothing is of a higher calibre than us mere mortals.

Here’s the full get-up, captured by paparazzi waiting outside the lawyer’s London home.

Looks comfortable, casual and low-key, right?

Wrong. This outfit costs more than an international flight – return!

Here’s the tally…

Top = Stella McCartney, $1013.89

Skirt = Stella McCartney, $767.98

Bag = Les Petits Joueurs, approximately $1400

Shoes = Stella McCartney, $1444.25

Sunglasses = Heidi London, $354.50

Total = $4980.62

Add to that the price of that Brics designer luggage she’s toting which is priced from $500 a piece and you’re looking at a splurge of more than $6000.

If that’s her leisure wear, we’d hate to think what she rocks to business meetings and red carpet events.
