Rapper Iggy Azalea reveals high school secret

Life is rosy for Iggy Azalea but the Aussie rapper has revealed that things haven’t always been so good, during a fan appearance on her trip Down Under.

The Mullumbimby girl has been on a whistlestop visit to Sydney in the role of an ambassador for Bonds as the underwear brand celebrates its 100th anniversary.

On Wednesday, the rapper was on stage when radio host Andy Lee was dacked (had his trousers pulled down) by his co-host Hamish Blake, which brought back some hard memories for Azalea.

“I got dacked a lot at high school, I really hated that,” Azalea said at a meet and greet event for fans at Westfield Miranda, south of Sydney, on Thursday.

“But I used to get dacked all the time so it was good to dack Andy.”

Another thing that’s changed for Azalea is the reception she now receives when she comes home.

She was greeted on Thursday by hundreds of screaming fans, some of whom had waited more than 10 hours to see her.

“It’s a little bit surreal actually because I don’t come home very often and I kind of imagine it as me being a totally normal person when I come back,” she said.

But Azalea seemed genuinely touched to see so many people there and took a long time to embrace fans and take selfies.

“It’s awesome, I appreciate the support you guys. Thank you so much for coming,” she said.

She was in town for just three days, but Azalea managed to tick a lot off her Aussie hit list.

Keen to take her fiance, basketball player Nick Young, to Luna Park, she rented out the whole theme park on Tuesday as it was closed for the off-peak season.

On Thursday, she treated him to a zoo visit.

“He’s here touching all the baby kangaroos and koalas today at the zoo,” Azalea said.

Azalea has also been teaching Young a thing or two about local sports, and just how tough they are.

“I wasn’t a basketball fan. I’m an Aussie so I like league and I like my union. I like basketball too now for Nick,” she said.

The rapper is about to head back to LA to finish her second album.

“I’m definitely going to come back to Australia next year,” she said.
