Han Solo Star Wars spinoff movie in the works

The public is finally getting a look inside the early life of Han Solo and how he came to be the hero we know and love.

According to a statement on the official Star Wars site, “the story focuses on how young Han Solo became the smuggler, thief, and scoundrel whom Luke Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi first encountered in the cantina at Mos Eisley”.

The masterminds behind the incoming spinoff are Chris Miller and Phil Lord, the men who brought you The Lego Movie and the super-successful Jump Street films.

Miller and Lord will team up with father-son writers Lawrence and Jon Kasdan. Lawrence Kasdan has writing credits on all three original Star Wars films.

In an official statement, Miller and Lord called the project “a dream come true”.

“We promise to take risks, to give the audience a fresh experience, and we pledge ourselves to be faithful stewards of these characters who mean so much to us,” the sayd.

“This is a dream come true for us. And not the kind of dream where you’re late for work and all your clothes are made of pudding, but the kind of dream where you get to make a film with some of the greatest characters ever, in a film franchise you’ve loved since before you can remember having dreams at all.”

The movie is slated for release on May 25, 2018.

No word yet on who will play a young Solo. Let’s pray it isn’t Justin Bieber.
