Stefanovic’s ‘dodgy’ Hollywood movie gig

Australia’s Karl Stefanovic may get some screen time in the new Independence Day movie as a “dodgy TV host” after filming a speaking part in the production.

On Wednesday morning, the popular Today Show host revealed he was flown to New Mexico where the film is in production and read a part among a group of “press people”.

• Karl’s chuckling ‘apology’ for racism

“I went onto the set and there was this blue screen thing happening and then [the cast and crew] all sat down and they said ‘Righto, there’s going to be a speaking part given to one of you press people from around the world’,” he said.

“You’re going to have to see the movie to see this speaking part,” he said. “It may not be long, it may not be very involved, and it may be awful.”

The 40-year-old joked that playing himself in the film was a challenge.

“Getting to the bottom of my own personality is not easy,” he said.

The sequel to the record-breaking blockbuster will star Jeff Goldblum, Liam Hemsworth, and Vivica A. Fox, but original star Will Smith will not appear, news.com.au reported.
