Sony’s desperate bid to rescue Aloha disaster

Cameron Crowe’s latest rom-com Aloha has been doomed from the start.

The film has been plagued by delayed production, in-fighting, leaked emails, accusations of racism and cultural appropriation and, now, horrendous reviews.

Despite a stellar cast (Bradley Cooper, Emma Stone, Rachel McAdams, Alec Baldwin and Bill Murray), a critically-acclaimed director and a stunning Hawaiian backdrop, Aloha has been unequivocally panned by US critics.

The Hollywood Reporter deemed the film “deeply confused”, while Collider‘s Matt Goldberg said it was “so shockingly incoherent and inept that it borders on the surreal”.

Entertainment Weekly went so far as to warn audiences off seeing the movie, dropping spoilers in their review to “save you ten bucks”.

Now, in a last-ditch attempt to salvage the movie’s chances at the box office, Sony has released the first eight minutes of the flick online.

Aloha is set to face off against disaster movie San Andreas at the US box office this weekend and it’s clear producers are worried it won’t hold up.
