Paltrow is ‘incredibly close’ to commoners

Hollywood actress and entrepreneur Gwyneth Paltrow has hit back at critics who call her out of touch, saying she is “incredibly close to the common woman”.

Speaking to CNN Money, Paltrow said she shares similarities with most women because “I am a woman and I’m a mother”.

“We are all in a physical body with beating hearts and compassion and love – we are all seekers, we all want questions, we all want fulfilment, we want to live our best lives, we want to be healthy and happy and squeeze the most we can out of life. I think that’s all women.”

The 42-year-old, who is the founder of lifestyle brand Goop, also said she takes issue with being described as a “guru”.

“I see myself as an actor and a mother and an entrepreneur. I don’t see myself as a guru at all.”

The mother of two is often criticised for promoting an unattainable lifestyle on her site, where many featured products cost over $1000.

This is not the first time Paltrow has attempted to align herself with “normal” people.

In April 2014, the actress, who is worth a reported $140 million, claimed being on a film set was more difficult than working nine to five.

“It’s much harder for me,” Paltrow argued. “I think to have a regular job and be a mom is not as, of course there are challenges, but it’s not like being on set.”
