She described it as a “magical day.”

The couple wed in a 40-minute ceremony at the 12th-century church of St Peter and St Paul in Mottistone, followed by a reception at Mottistone Manor nearby, according to The Times.

Cumberbatch, 38, became an unexpected heartthrob to millions of women following his portrayal of the cerebral sleuth Sherlock Holmes in Sherlock.

His fans have become known as “Cumberbitches” because of their unfettered devotion to the actor.

So popular is the star, a Twitter account called @Cumberbitches has 198,000 followers and is described as: “The most glorious and elusive society for the appreciation of the high cheekboned, blue eyed sexbomb that is Benedict Timothy Carlton Cumberbatch”.

Cumberbatch has been nominated for the Best Actor Oscar,  for his role as code-breaking genius Alan Turing in The Imitation Game.

Turing helped win World War II with his work on cracking Nazi codes but was later prosecuted for homosexuality and committed suicide.

Hunter, 36, and Cumberbatch appeared together in the 2009 thriller Burlesque Fairytales.

No wedding photos of the couple have been released, but there has been a lot of speculation and celebrity snaps on social media.
