One of the the biggest winners at this year’s ARIA awards, elusive Aussie singer-songwriter Sia, has given her awards away on Twitter.

The 38-year-old performer offered up the trophies on social media on Thursday morning after expressing disappointment towards the awards show’s organisers.

Sia said she was “saddened” after pre-recording four acceptance speech videos for her awards, only to have just one chosen and shown in her absence.

Based in LA, the singer-songwriter also expressed her frustration over a decision made by the ARIA organisers not to show all four of her pre-recorded acceptance videos on the night.

However, ARIA Awards organisers have defended their coverage of Sia’s four wins and say it was unfortunate the singer didn’t attend the event.

The organisers say they would have loved for Sia to attend and did invite her to perform. ARIA says they made sure each of the singer’s four wins were accepted graciously on her behalf.

“Of her two award wins that were televised, the Album Of The Year video acceptance footage was shown on air and Sia’s friend, Katy Perry accepted Best Female Artist on her behalf,” an ARIA spokeswoman said in a statement given to AAP.

True to her reclusive nature, the pre-recorded video didn’t feature Sia herself but a man in a blonde-bob miming while the singer’s voice could be heard thanking people.

ARIA is now trying to make all of Sia’s acceptance videos available for people to view online.

“Downloading Sia’s acceptance speech videos to post online, however they are taking hours to download. They will be posted on ARIA socials once they have completed downloading,” the spokeswoman said.

Earlier this year, she didn’t turn up for the APRA Music Awards in Brisbane, where she was handed the prestigious songwriter of the year gong for the second year running.

She employed a male actor to do her video acceptance speech, similar to the one that was broadcast for the ARIAs.

But perhaps the prolific songwriter – who not only releases music for herself but is constantly writing hits for stars such as Rihanna and Beyonce – is too busy creating the music which is winning her all these accolades to be able to attend the ceremonies.
