Actors Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes have named their newborn daughter Esmerelda, TMZ has revealed.

According to a birth certificate obtained by the website, the celebrity couple also chose the middle name Amada.

It is rumoured that the moniker was inspired Mendes’ role in the 2007 film We Own the Night, in which she played a character named Amada.

The private pair have not released any information about their daughter since her birth on September 12.
