‘Packer v Gyngell brawl wasn’t over me’

Her rumoured romance with James Packer continues to fuel headlines, but Miranda Kerr says the billionaire’s infamous bust-up with Nine Network boss David Gyngell wasn’t about her.

“They weren’t fighting over me,” Kerr told London’s The Sunday Times.

Footage published in May showed Packer and Gyngell hurling punches at each other outside Packer’s Bondi pad, before other men eventually restrained the long-time friends.

After a police investigation the pair were slapped with a $500 fine as part of a criminal infringement notice, meaning both men avoided criminal records.

Packer lashed out at Gyngell after he saw a Nine Network news van parked outside his home.

Photos of the fight were splashed across national front pages.

Reports at the time speculated the van was there to try to catch Kerr visiting the casino mogul while she was in Australia on business.

Persistent rumours have linked the supermodel to Packer since late last year, when both their marriages ended one month apart.

But Kerr, who said she’s still single, rubbished claims the duo are romantically involved.

“James and I are friends, but people want to make a story, the public want to put me with someone,” she said.

Kerr said she’s on good terms with her estranged husband, actor Orlando Bloom, but revealed that their three-year-old son has an around-the-clock nanny whenever he visits his dad.

“The nanny is with him all the time when he is with Orlando,” the 31-year-old said.

“Don’t get me wrong, he’s a great dad. It’s just me being a protective mother and wanting to make sure all his needs are met.”

She insisted Bloom doesn’t have a problem with the arrangement because it puts “less pressure” on him.

Bloom made headlines this month for taking a swing at Justine Bieber on Spanish party island Ibiza after the popstar insinuated he had slept with the former Victoria’s Secret model while Bloom and Kerr were still married.
