New location for The Block once a murder scene

A Melbourne motel reportedly bought by The Block was the scene of an alleged brutal sex attack by a self-proclaimed vampire gigolo.

The Nine Network has bought the Hotel Saville for more than $7 million for the 10th season of its popular reality renovation series, News Limited reported on Thursday.

A spokesman would not comment on whether or not the network had snapped up the property for the show.

The Hotel Saville in South Yarra was the scene of male prostitute Shane Chartres-Abbott’s alleged attack on a former client in August 2002.

He allegedly raped the woman and bit off part of her tongue.

Chartres-Abbott had earlier told his alleged victim he was a vampire who needed to drink blood to survive, and he was older than the city of Melbourne.

Chartres-Abbott was gunned down in his front yard in 2003.

The next series of The Block is to air this year in August and is currently being filmed in Prahran.
