The US duo wrap things up with a performance of their single Thank You. Cue the impromptu dance floor featuring Natalie Bassingthwaite, Dannii Minogue and Manu Feildel.

11.08pm: And the Gold Logie goes to….SCOTT CAM!

In a bit of an upset, The Block host beats out red-hot favourite Asher Keddie.

“It’s unbelievable that it’s eleven o’clock at the Logies and I’m still sober,” Cam jokes. He also thanks his kids and wife, who he describes as “an absolute corker.”

“I love you, darling. She hasn’t changed a bit since the day I met her. Unfortunately, I’ve changed a lot. For better or for worse.”

“Can I have a beer now?”

10.57pm: Redfern Now wins Most Outstanding Drama Series

The series wins the award for the second year in a row.

10.49pm: Myer’s Best Dressed Award goes to Carrie Bickmore.

The Project star’s princess gown has won fans across the country.

10.44pm: Most Outstanding Light Entertainment Program goes to Housos

The cast pop a bottle of champagne and lose their minds. One of them throws his shoe at the camera.

“This is a great win for the true people of Australia…the real battlers.”

10.34pm: Most Outstanding Actor goes to Lachy Hulme

The actor wins for his portrayal of Sir Frank Packer in Channel Nine’s  Power Games: The Packer-Murdoch War.

Hulme ends his speech with a footy cheer, “Go Bombers!”

10.26pm: Most Outstanding Actress goes to Asher Keddie

The Offspring star wins her second award for the night for her performance as Nina on the hit series.

10.17pm: The show pauses in memoriam of industry figures lost this year.

Set to the backing track of a live performance from Tina Arena. Charlotte Dawson’s photograph elicits the biggest cheer.

10.11pm: Most Outstanding Tele-movie/Mini-series goes to Top of the Lake.

The series, shot in New Zealand and screened on Foxtel, has received critical acclaim across the globe.

10.04pm: Happy birthday Channel Ten.

We get a This is Your Life episode for the network, which celebrates its 50th birthday this year.

9.59pm: Channel Seven’s 2013 Melbourne Cup Carnival coverage grabs Most Outstanding Sports Coverage.

Bruce McAvaney accepts the trophy.

9.55pm: Asher Keddie gets an impromptu chat in the audience with Hamish Blake.

“Back to back would just be rude,” she laughs.

9.45pm: Bonnie Sveen from Home and Away wins Most Popular New Talent.

The actress opens her speech by paying her respects to the traditional owners of the land.

9.40pm: John Newman sings for his supper.

The visiting UK artist shows off his unusual vocal style singing his hit Love Me Again.

9.24pm: The show remembers Hall of Fame inductee Peter Harvey.

The late newsreader gets a standing ovation from the audience and a few crowd members (including Shelley Craft) shed a tear.

His children, Claire and Adam, accept the award on his behalf.

“Dad would have been chuffed with this,” Adam says.

9.13pm: Most Popular Light Entertainment Program goes to Hamish and Andy’s Gap Year: Asia.

“This is unexpected” the comedy duo say.

“Hamish and I love holidaying,” Lee says.

“Thanks for paying for it,” adds Blake.

As per usual, presenter Karl Stefanovic (who isn’t awake late enough to catch any of the nominees) is controversial.

“How good is snorting No-Doze? I was just talking to the Home and Away kids and they were saying the same thing,” he said, to scandalised/guilty laughs from the audience.

9.08pm: Kylie Minogue takes the stage

The 45-year-old has still got it, wearing tiny shorts to perform her song I was gonna cancel.

Her back-up dancers are a little unusual – wearing full hipster garb to wander around behind her.

9.00pm: Most Outstanding News Coverage goes to Nine News for their coverage of the NSW bush fires.

Peter Overton accepts the award, remembering the many families who still don’t have homes and the volunteers who are “the fabric of our country”.

8.56pm: My Kitchen Rules takes the Logie for Most Popular Reality Show

Pete Evans isn’t there, so Manu Feildel accepts the award saying “he [Evans] always goes on holidays.”

8.44pm: Ed Sheeran performs

The singer gives a pitch-perfect rendition of his latest hit Sing.

How does he sing so quickly?

8.40pm: Essie Davis and Carrie Bickmore ham it up

Hamish Blake heads into the audience to question the two Gold Logie nominees. They joke about having no chance at winning the award. Davis adds that she’s “feeling reckless”.

8.37pm: Home and Away wins Most Popular Australian Drama

The show has been nominated every year since the category began and won six times.

The whole cast accepts the award and Ray Meagher adds, “We’re Australian made and exported around the world and very proud of it.”

8.29pm: The Silver Logie for Most Popular Presenter goes to Scott Cam

The Block host wins and says, “I’ve got a great show on The Block…we put together a great show that families and kids love to watch and I’ve got a great opportunity to work on that show.”

8.24pm: The Silver Logie for Most Popular Actor goes to Chris Lilley

No surprises there. Lilley couldn’t be there because he’s in London so he accepted via video chat and sent Ja’mie’s friend Kwami in his place.

Kwami says “thank you” and that’s it. Classic.

Scottish Voice host Darren McMullen also does a pretty awesome impression of an Australian accent when presenting.

8.16pm: The Silver Logie for Most Popular Actress goes to Asher Keddie

The beloved (and recently married) star takes home her fourth Silver Logie in a row.

“I had brave writing and an extraordinary ensemble cast to work with,” she says of her experience on Offspring, adding that she feels “very honoured to take this home again.”

8.10pm: Hamish and Andy take the stage

Wheeled on by a forklift driven by The Block‘s Scott Cam, the radio duo are the first presenters of the show. Andy Lee wishes everyone a “great night”, prompting Hamish Blake to ask him if he said “gold night”. Lee is up for the Gold Logie, which Blake won in 2012.

The pair pretend to read from a fake script and cut to Rebecca Gibney asking for a “somewhat sexy face”. She delivers wholeheartedly.

8.05pm: Jason Derulo kicks it all off

Performing his hit song Trumpets, the US star opens the show. His voice sounds a little faint in the beginning but it’s under control by the time the chorus rolls around.

He then breaks out into a medley of his hits including The Other Side and Talk Dirty to Me.

7.40pm: Tattoo-style gowns are the order of the day

Sheer dresses with embroidery are a clear trend – Asher Keddie, Rebecca Gibney and Shelley Craft are all wearing the style.

7.15pm: The Minogue sisters reunite!

Both Kylie and Dannii are attending this year’s ceremony. Are we the only ones craving a sister selfie?

6.45pm: Asher Keddie hits the carpet

The former Gold Logie winner and her new husband, artist Vincent Fantauzzo, have arrived to flashing cameras. Keddie is wearing a low-cut black gown from Australian designers J’Aton Couture.

6.30pm: The red carpet is well and truly underway

Kylie Minogue is in a cream strapless gown, Jennifer Hawkins is flaunting her mid-section in a white two-piece and stars, including a cow (?) are twirling for the 360° camera.

What to expect

Australian television takes centre stage tonight at Crown Palladium as the TV Week Logie Awards reward the hardworking stars of local screens.

The New Daily will provide up-to-date coverage of the awards, from the frock shocks of the red carpet to all the gossip and winning moments of the ceremony.

Here’s what to expect:

Expect great things from Kylie Minogue, a spate of former and current Miss Universes and, of course, Australia’s golden girl Asher Keddie.

Perhaps the most exciting addition this year is an E! Entertainment-inspired 360° red carpet camera to capture the gowns from all angles. Kylie Minogue was one of the first to give the set-up – made famous at this year’s Oscars – a test run.

Celebrity guests

As in the past, organisers have nabbed some high profile international performers and this year will be no exception. Kylie Minogue, Paula Abdul, American R&B star Jason Derulo, British singer-songwriter Ed Sheeran, American duo MKTO and British singer John Newman will all take to the stage.

The award of the night

The Gold Logie is undeniably the most coveted prize of the evening. The nominees are last year’s winner Asher Keddie, Andy Lee, Essie Davis, Carrie Bickmore, Scott Cam and Steve Peacocke.

Keddie is a favourite to take home the gold thanks to popularity of her series Offspring.
