Lorde posts acne photo to fight photoshop lies

Grammy-winning New Zealand singer Lorde has shared an anti-photoshop message on her Twitter account, posting an acne-ridden photo to tell fans “flaws are ok.”

The 17-year-old shared the unedited shot of herself on stage next to a snap from the same concert which had been heavily edited.

“I find this curious,” she wrote, before posting the two photos from her Sunday concert and calling out the photoshopped one for making her skin look “perfect.”

This isn’t the first time the self-described feminist has fought back against the unrealistic or unacceptable standards of the entertainment industry, often posting photos on Instagram of herself wearing no makeup or with acne cream on.

The teenager’s boyfriend, photographer James Lowe, recently shared what it’s like to date the singer in a personal blog post.

“I’ve experienced being a target of the tabloids, finding moments I thought I was in safe hands splattered all over the internet, being pushed and shoved, or watching others get pushed and shoved by paparazzi just to get what they think they’re entitled to,” Lowe shared.

However, dating the 17-year-old superstar is not all bad, with the 24-year-old photographer admitting he has been able to meet amazing people and be inspired.

“Since originally sitting down to write this post, Ella has become a two-time Grammy winner,” Lowe wrote. “Currently, she is on the opposite side of the world on tour. As much as I miss her, I couldn’t be prouder of what she has achieved so far.”
